Archbishop Spalding High School Raises Money for Scholarship Fund at Annual Golf TournamentArchbishop Spalding High School held its 25th Annual Lt. James Love Golf Tournament in June at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course. More than 150 golfers, volunteers, and friends enjoyed a beautiful day celebrating the life of Lt. Love who was a Navy pilot lost during Operation Desert Shield. Tournament proceeds benefit the Lt. James Love Scholarship Fund.
Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate Ranked First in the Nation for the Third TimeThe Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate was ranked first in the nation for the third time based on sales volume, according to REAL Trends, a provider of statistical analysis for the residential real estate industry, in partnership with The Wall Street Journal. This is the first time any real estate team has achieved the top ranking three times. The Northrop Team also received the nation’s top-ranking position in 2010 and 2011.
The Northrop Team also ranked No. 1 in Maryland with a sales volume of $765,479,027 and 1,772 completed transaction sales in 2016. This marks the 11th consecutive year for achieving the ranking of the No. 1 real estate team in Maryland.
Annapolis Maritime Museum’s Alice Estrada Named Executive of the Year
The Annapolis Maritime Museum announced that its Executive Director, Alice Estrada, has been selected as Executive of the Year by the NonProfit PRO Organization. Estrada was recognized for her achievement at the organization’s National Leadership Conference in Philadelphia on May 17th, 2017. Since her appointment to Executive Director of the Annapolis Maritime Museum in 2013, Estrada has successfully developed and executed a bold new vision for the expansion of the Museum’s facilities, exhibits, and programs.
Chesapeake Children’s Museum Awarded $10,000 to Bring the Big Read to Anne Arundel County
The National Endowment for the Arts announced 75 nonprofit organizations will receive grants totaling more than $1 million to host an NEA Big Read project between September 2017 and June 2018. The National Endowment for the Arts awarded a $10,000 Big Read project grant to the Chesapeake Children’s Museum for a community reading program celebrating and promoting literature. This year’s “Big Read-Anne Arundel County” will focus on the book Sun, Stone and Shadows featuring a superb selection of the finest Mexican short stories of the 20th century.
Community Models are Also Role Models as Fashion Show Raises $80K for Kids
About 250 people mingled around sports cars on lifts in the service bays of Porsche of Annapolis to see hot summer fashions during the ninth annual Fashion for a Cause, held Thursday, June 8th. The charity event raised around $80,000 for Chesapeake Kids, a program of Hospice of the Chesapeake hich supports children living with and affected by advanced illness and loss.
Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Scholarship Trust Partnered with Dinner Under The StarsAnnapolis & Anne Arundel County Scholarship Trust partnered with Dinner Under The Stars on Wednesday, June 7th for a special fundraising event. The Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Scholarship Trust is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 2000 that works with the community to provide inspiration, mentoring, and scholarships for First-Generation-College-Bound-Students. The Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Scholarship Trust has been a part of technical school and college graduation stories around the country. Their scholars study diverse subjects such as Biology, Art, Web Development, and Engineering and work in a variety of industries such as Community Service, Advertising, Technology, Defense, and Education. Students are required to earn and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or greater in order to participate in the program.
Fichtner Services Named Title Sponsor at Golf Tournament
Fichtner Services of Annapolis was recognized on June 15th for being the Title Sponsor of the Lighthouse Shelter Golf Tournament for the 10th year in a row. A foursome including Estimators Kevin West, Scott Geesey, and Mike Bafford, along with Service Manager Steve Finn won the tournament. Fichtner Services is an Annapolis contractor offering complete services for roofing, siding, windows, doors, and decks.
