What To Know Before You Go: Waterfowl Festival

Celebrate wildlife art, sporting heritage, and the best of Eastern Shore food at Easton’s annual Waterfowl Festival. Bountiful Harvest
Friday, November 10th, 7–10 p.m.
The Friends of The Light House will host its annual Bountiful Harvest at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. Bountiful Harvest will include local chefs and caterers offering an array of tastings to create unique and delicious cuisine that delights the palates of guests. In addition, there will be a wide array of silent auction and live auction items. Since the event is held on Veteran’s Day, Friends of the Light House ask attendees to please wear red, white, and blue.

Veterans Classic
Friday, November 10th, 6:30 p.m.
The Veterans Classic at the U.S. Naval Academy is one of the premier early-season college basketball events in the country. The annual season-opening doubleheader brings together top NCAA Division I teams in celebration of Veterans Day and has featured nationally recognized schools over the past three years. Alabama will face Memphis at 6:30 p.m. and Navy will host Pitt at 9 p.m.

Enchanting Voices
Friday, November 10th, 7 p.m.
Join the Hammond-Harwood House in their historic ballroom for an evening of beguiling vocal music by 17th century Italian female composers, featuring the music of Baroque composers Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini, with lute solos of Bernardo Gianoncelli and Alessandro Piccinini.

Sawyer Fredericks: Winner of NBC’s The Voice
Saturday, November 11th, 1 p.m.
18-year-old singer-songwriter Sawyer Fredericks, hailing from his family's farm in central New York State, is fast establishing himself as an authentic, original, Americana artist with an old soul. His deep, beyond-his-years lyrics and melodies, raw, soulful vocals, and powerful live performances have attracted an ever-growing number of devoted fans of all ages, selling out shows throughout the US. As a folk/blues singer-songwriter, Sawyer seemed an unlikely match for reality tv, but quickly won over broad audiences with his genuine delivery and unique arrangements of classic songs, going on to win season eight of NBC's The Voice.

Harvest of the Artist
Sunday, November 12th, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Harvest of the Artist is a handmade artisans' market hosted annually each November at Key School in Annapolis. Area artists and crafters showcase myriad creations from one-of-a-kind jewelry to unique textiles at this juried show. This market offers something for everyone: home furnishings and accessories, pottery, organic body care, candies and baked goods, folk art pieces, and more.

Eastern Shore

Waterfowl Festival
Friday, November 10th, 8:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; Saturday, November 11th, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday, November 12th, 10 a.m.–4p.m.
The Waterfowl Festival is an annual, three-day event that promotes wildlife conservation and celebrates life on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Experience wildlife paintings, sculpture, carvings and photography, and meet the artists behind them. Buy, trade, and sell antique decoys and hunting artifacts. Watch Dock Dogs, retriever, fishing, and bird of prey demonstrations. Eat local seafood, try local wines and beers, listen to live music, and bring the kids along for art classes and other activities.

Veterans Day Ceremony
Saturday, November 11th, 11 a.m.
The Wicomico County War Memorial Committee invites the community to join in honoring our military veterans. The ceremony will take place at the Wicomico War Veterans' Memorial, located directly in front of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. The ceremony, which is being coordinated by the Wicomico County War Memorial Committee, includes patriotic music, prayer and remembrance to honor all veterans. Veterans Day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military, in wartime or peacetime.

Brew and Oyster Brawl
Saturday, November 11th, 3–6 p.m.
Join the Tidewater Inn in downtown Easton during the Waterfowl Festival for the sixth annual Brew & Oyster Brawl. Enjoy live music by local favorites, Mule Train, a stationed menu featuring oysters every which way and open beer & wine bar. This year’s philanthropic partner is Philips Wharf Environment Center who provides hands-on experience with animals and plans of the Chesapeake Bay.

An Anthem for Humanity: Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem
Saturday, November 11th, 8–10 p.m.
J. Ernest Green conducts The Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Johannes Brahms German Requiem. When Brahms composed this moving work, he could not have known the deep personal and social impact it would have on those who heard it. The beauty of the words and music alone conveys comfort in the face of loss, but more than that, they connect us to each other though our shared humanity.

Western Shore

Veteran’s Day Celebration
Friday, November 10th, 10:15 a.m.–12 p.m.
Join Hospice of the Chesapeake for their annual Veteran’s Day Celebration. The event is part of the nonprofit’s participation in the We Honor Veterans program, a national hospice initiative honoring the men and women from all branches of the military who have served our country. This year’s celebration will include a commemoration of the centennial of World War I.

Celebration of Philanthropy Awards 
Friday, November 10th, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County is proud to host the 17th annual Celebration of Philanthropy Luncheon. The purpose of the luncheon is to celebrate philanthropy in our community and the individuals, businesses, and foundations who demonstrate outstanding generosity and community leadership.

Maryland Irish Festival
Friday, November 10th, 6–11 p.m.; Saturday, November 11th, 12–11 p.m.; Sunday, November 12th, 12–6 p.m.
From Irish step dancing lessons to puppetry and from traditional Irish food to authentic Celtic music, there is something for everyone at the 44th Annual Maryland Irish Festival. There will be plenty of traditional Irish food and drinks, internationally recognized musical groups, children’s activities, cultural exhibits from Ireland, festive contests, a speaker series, and various vendors all contained in the spacious Cow Palace.

Documentary: 100 Years of Fort George G. Meade

Join Anne Arundel County Community Television for this free event to celebrate 100 years of Fort George G. Meade. There will be a screening of a special 30-minute documentary highlighting the events and people that touched the post through two world wars and into the modern age. Seating is limited so please be sure to RSVP. The film will be followed by a Q&A with historians and experts about Fort Meade. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar.
