What’s Up? Media Raises Over $15,000 for Non-Profits
What’s Up? Media’s Best Of Party returned to the Loews Annapolis Hotel in June, bigger and better than ever! It was an evening full of delicious food and drinks, live music, hair and makeup touch-ups, body painting, bourbon tastings, fundraising fun, and so much more! Thanks to you, What’s Up? raised more than $15,000 to benefit the South River Federation, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and the Maryland Theatre for Performing Arts.
New Bello Machre Home Dedicated in MillersvilleIn honor of Charles and Norma Irish, the Bello Machre home located on Brookwood Road in Millersville was dedicated as The Charles and Norma Irish Home in August. Charles began his involvement with Bello Machre in 1995 and has gifted over $360,000. He has helped open countless doors for families and individuals in need.
Two Leading Mid-Atlantic Ophthalmology Practices Merge to Create New Annapolis-Based Entity
Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center of Annapolis and Whitten Laser Eye, with locations in Washington, D.C., Charlotte Hall, Maryland, and Richmond, Virginia, are joining together. Dr. Maria Scott, the founder and medical director of Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center, and Dr. Mark Whitten, founder of Whitten Laser Eye, will head up the new entity. The newly formed Chesapeake Eye Care Management, LLC will be ideally positioned to continue expanding services to patients and create a platform that offers an even broader array of comprehensive medical procedures, state-of-the-art facilities, and cutting-edge technologies.
The new Chesapeake Eye Care Management, LLC will share its corporate offices with Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center in the Sajak Pavilion on the campus of the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Hospice of the Chesapeake Announces Six New Board Members
Several prominent members of the community have been appointed to the Board of Directors for Hospice of the Chesapeake and its Foundation. Michael DeStefano and Dr. Maulik Joshi began serving on the Hospice of the Chesapeake, Inc. Board in May. Dr. Susan Duncan, Theresa Hussman, William Love Jr., and Kenneth Stanley are the newest members of the Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation Board of Directors. Headquartered in Pasadena, the nonprofit provides hospice and palliative care as well as bereavement services to residents of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties.
Junior League of Annapolis Announces Partnership with Community of Hope Brooklyn Park
Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. (JLA) is partnering with the Anne Arundel County Partnership for children, youth, and families to establish a Community of Hope in the Brooklyn Park community of Anne Arundel County, an area which has the highest need and least resources in the county. The objectives are to help develop and establish, together with community members, programs and initiatives that will promote healthy and successful children and families.
