2018 Summer Camps You Should Know

We’ve got the details about some of the best summer camps on both sides of the Chesapeake Bay. And there really is something for every child—from energetic sports to engineering prowess to the best in dance and the arts. Kids are so lucky!


Annapolis Area Christian School Summer Programs

At the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park, we foster a culture of growth and discovery. Nestled in the city of Annapolis, Back Creek Nature Park is a window to the Chesapeake Bay. Campers will develop their connection to the natural world and maritime culture as they investigate 12 wooded acres, a secluded cove, nature trails, marsh habitat, and more! Programs are led by an experienced staff and feature both instructor-led and child-driven exploration.

Annapolis Recreation and Parks Summer Camps

Offers many programs for kids to keep fit and active during the summer months including traditional and special interest camps. Choices include boating, skateboarding, outdoor sports, indoor sports, rock climbing, dance, karate, fencing, nature and art. Many camps include swimming at Truxtun Park Pool. Anne Arundel Community College’s Kids in College Summer Camps

Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Summer Camps

Camp Pecometh

All programs include traditional activities such as canoeing, arts & crafts, music, challenge course, swimming, nature activities, and Bible study. Specialty programs also include a specific focus in a particular area such as crabbing, sailing, crafts, inner tubing and floating inflatables, high ropes, worship band, photography, horseback riding, and archery. There is also a one-week session for adults with disabilities. Eight one-week sessions beginning June 17 and ending August 10. Day camp for grades completed K-6. Camp Wabanna

Camp Wabanna is a non-denominational Christian camp located in Edgewater on the Chesapeake Bay.  From mid-June to early August, we run a day camp program for boys and girls ages 4–13 and a traditional overnight camp for boys and girls ages 7–16. Campers have the opportunity to enjoy the climbing walls, dual zip-line, swimming pool, 50-foot giant swing, banana boating, sailing, archery, kayaking, Bible studies, and more. Indian Creek School Summer Camp Program

Musical Theatre Summer Camp

locations in Annapolis, Brooklyn Park, and Pikesville. 410-837-0971. musicalartiststheatre.com. Two-week full-day camp for ages 6–15, $495. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes in singing, dancing, and acting taught by professionals. Activities include costumes, stagecraft, learning and practicing scenes, songs, and dances from great Broadway musicals. Kids grouped by age are guided by experienced counselors, emphasizing teamwork, building confidence, and having fun, as they prepare and perform their show on the
final day.

Miles River Yacht Club Junior Sail Program

Sessions run June 18 to August 10, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., ages 6-18. $300-$450/week depending on class. The MRYC Junior Sail Program provides hands-on sailing instruction in seamanship, sportsmanship, and water safety for kids 6-18. We’re expanding our classes with a new racing track for sailors who want to get more involved. Plus, our Adventure Sailing program is also expanding to prepare sailors for cruising as well as learning to sail. Naptown Sings and Plays! Summer Camps

Cost for both weeks: $250 per week (10 days + 2 concerts). For the fourth year in a row, Naptown Sings and Plays! will be having its BIG Summer Camps. These fun and educational summer camps are for kids who are interested in music, music, and more music. Students will have the opportunity to learn to sing through the songs they love, as well as become acquainted with an instrument of their choosing: guitar, piano, or world drumming.  Highly qualified instructors will be at the camp to ensure a well-rounded educational experience and an exciting week. In addition to group instruction in voice and instruments, students will make friends, play games, and have an all-around musical good time!  In addition to our BIG camps, we will be offering a number of mini-camps at the Naptown Sings and Plays Studio! Severn School Summer Programs

Co-ed specialty camps are available for campers entering grades 1-5 (Chesapeake Campus) and grades 6-12 (Teel Campus). Specialty camps at Chesapeake Campus run from June 25 through July 9; at the Teel Campus, specialty camps run from June 25 through July 30. Sultana Education Foundation

Program Dates:  June 19 - August 17. Programs range from three to eight days. Both day and residential programs are offered. Age Range:  Programs serve 5-18 year olds. Pricing: Program tuition ranges from $275-$900.Now in its 17th season, the Sultana Education Foundation’s Summer Programs provide children and young adults with extraordinary opportunities to experience the Chesapeake Bay in ways that most people can only imagine. The Foundation provides a variety of options for students from five to 18 years of age, including live-aboard Tall Ship excursions on the schooner SULTANA, week-long kayak camping trips on the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, as well as science and paddling-based day-programs for younger children.  Please visit www.sultanaeducation.org for additional details.

Summer Camps at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum
