When this three-level colonial home situated on Whitehall Creek in a private woodland setting went on the market, Melissa Murray of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage knew it was perfect for her clients. And her instincts were definitely correct. Indeed, when they saw the house, which was owned by a member of the Ridout family, a prominent family in Annapolis, it was love at first sight, and they made an offer a few hours later. The property, which was listed on July 13, 2017, was on the market for only three days before it went under contract, and closed on August 14, 2017.

“What’s especially interesting about this home is that my clients lost the house next door due to a multiple bid situation,” says Murray, the buyer’s agent for the property. “We went under contract with another home, but I could tell they weren’t in love with it. I saw this house minutes after it was listed, and I knew they had to see it. They were drawn to the property because they didn’t want a cookie-cutter home. They wanted a home with history.”

Boasting serene water views, the home exudes the charm and character that is typical of older structures. The kitchen features wood cabinetry, sleek appliances, an island, a wood-burning fireplace, hardwood floors, and a beamed ceiling. The family room includes a wood-burning fireplace, hardwood floors, and ample windows. Located along the entire length of the home, the delightful screened-in porch offers the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the views. The property also includes a study/library with built-in shelving, a main-level master bedroom, and a grandfathered private pier.

“My dad built the home, and I have so many fond memories of growing up there,” says the seller’s daughter. “It really is an amazing home with the ceiling heights and big windows because those features weren’t typical for that time period. Although it was extremely hard to part with our home, we knew it was the right decision. And finding the right buyers who wanted to carry on the home’s legacy of love was very important to us.”
