Ewing, Dietz, Fountain & Kaludis, P.A., is located in an 18th-century building in the heart of downtown Easton, half a block from the historic Talbot County Courthouse. The firm, founded in 1954 by the late L. Clark Ewing, provides valuable legal services and thoughtful counsel to individuals, businesses, community organizations and local governments throughout Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The firm’s nine attorneys use a collaborative, synergistic approach to structure the best solutions to their clients’ legal issues.

In the past decade, the firm, formerly known as Ewing, Dietz, Fountain & Kehoe, saw former partners Christopher B. Kehoe and Stephen H. Kehoe, join the bench as judges for the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and the Circuit Court of Talbot County, respectively. Today, the firm has seven partners and two associates.

Tom Fountain
, an Eastern Shore native and 2018 Eastern Shore Leading Lawyer in trusts and estates, wills and probate, is well-known and widely respected for his expertise in estate planning and administration.

Phil Dietz
, Mr. Ewing’s first partner, joining the firm in the early 1970s, is a 2018 Eastern Shore Leading Lawyer in business law, real estate law, zoning, planning and land use. Mr. Dietz also has an extensive practice in estate planning and administration.

Karen Kaludis
, a 2018 Eastern Shore Leading Lawyer in family law, domestic violence, mediation and personal injury, is well-known and highly regarded throughout the Mid-Shore as a dedicated family law attorney and mediator.

Talbot native Matt Eglseder, a 2018 Eastern Shore Leading Lawyer in business law, elder law, real estate law, trusts and estates, wills and probate, formerly maintained a well-established solo practice in St. Michaels and works extensively in estate planning and administration.

Sharon VanEmburgh
is the Town Attorney for Easton and Centreville and a 2018 Eastern Shore Leading Lawyer in administrative law, liquor law and hearings, appellate law, elder law, real estate law, trusts and estates, wills and probate, zoning, planning and land use.

Alexis “Lex” Kramer
, a Talbot native and retired U.S. Naval Officer, is an experienced, tenacious litigator. A 2018 Eastern Shore Leading Lawyer in litigation, administrative law, liquor law and hearings, domestic violence, family law and personal injury, Mr. Kramer focuses primarily on general civil, family law and banking litigation.

Chris Jennings
, a 2018 Eastern Shore Leading Lawyer in litigation, appellate law, construction law, criminal law, domestic violence, family law and personal injury, is a trial attorney with years of experience in state and federal courts, focusing on general civil litigation and criminal defense matters.

Associate Garrett Fitzgerald maintains broad legal competency including business and corporate law, banking and foreclosure, domestic litigation, civil litigation, estate planning, municipal law, real estate and zoning.

Associate Will Chapman, a Talbot native, has a general practice focused primarily on family law and civil litigation, municipal law, land use, zoning and estate planning. Mr. Chapman, a former longtime sports writer and editor at The Star Democrat, is co-attorney for the Talbot County Board of Appeals and the District 3 governor for the Maryland State Bar Association.

When not working on behalf of clients, Ewing, Dietz, Fountain and Kaludis maintains a long tradition of giving back to the community and supporting local business and institutions – like the Talbot County Free Library in Easton, pictured above inside the library’s Frederick Douglass Meeting Room. The firm’s attorneys volunteer time and talent to local organizations and charities, including BAAM, Channel Marker , Character Counts, Critchlow Adkins Children’s Center, For All Seasons, Memorial Hospital Foundation, Mid-Shore Community Foundation, Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence, Mid-Shore Mental Health Systems, Mid-Shore Pro Bono, Talbot Hospice Foundation, the Waterfowl Festival and YMCA of the Chesapeake.
