As a rough season nears its merciful end, the Navy Midshipmen needed to change something up.

After suffering a seven-game losing streak, Navy's longest since dropping 10 straight in 2002, the Midshipmen did just that Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Decked out in the rare blue-on-blue primary uniform combo, the Midshipmen (3-8, 2-5 American Athletic Conference) added a little flavor to Senior Day against conference rival Tulsa.

On the field, they also found remnants of their typical selves, using their ground attack to control the tempo for most of the game. Navy ran for 389 yards, its second-highest output of the season. Facing a downtrodden Tulsa squad that hadn't won a road game all season also helps a team find its groove along with a sharp, seldom-used monochrome uniform set.

Senior quarterback and Anne Arundel County native Zach Abey led Navy with 128 yards rushing and two touchdowns in his final home game as a member of the Midshipmen.

Navy fullback Nelson Smith ran for two touchdowns in the first half.

The Midshipmen defense also did its part against Tulsa (2-9, 1-6), recovering a fumble and intercepting a pass in the Golden Hurricane's first two drives of the second half.

The end result was a 37-29 victory for Navy, marking its 16th consecutive Senior Day triumph.

Navy will end their conference schedule on Saturday, November 24 against Tulane (5-6, 4-3) before closing out its season with its annual matchup against Army (9-2). That Army-Navy game will be televised on Saturday, December 8 at 3 p.m. on CBS.
