Major League Lacrosse’s Championship Weekend takes over Annapolis.


Four teams, three games, two days, one champ; Major League Lacrosse will crown its 2009 champion at Annapolis’ Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium the weekend of August 22nd–23rd. The top four MLL teams compete in two semifinal games on Saturday, with the two victors facing each other in the ultimate showdown on Sunday. 33rd season of Maryland Renaissance Festival kicks off this month.

A Reel Competition


World’s largest billfish tournament takes over OC.

Over 300 boats of fishermen compete for $2.5 million in prize money during the 36th annual White Marlin Open from August 3rd–7th in Ocean City. The tournament invites spectators to the Harbour Island Marina (14th St. and the Bay) from 4–9 p.m. each day, free of charge, to watch as anglers weigh their daily catch. Running Down a Dream


34th running of the Annapolis Ten Mile race takes to the streets.

The morning of August 30th will see nearly 5,000 runners hit the streets of Annapolis for a 10-mile run that weaves through the city, beginning and ending at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. By 10 a.m., competitors will have crossed the finish line and the winners announced. For more information visit AnnapolisStriders.org.
