Legal Spirits in Easton to close

Legal Spirits Restaurant and Tavern in Easton will close by the end of the year, according to an article in Sunday's Star Democrat. The tavern, which was voted to have the best Cream of Crab Soup on the Eastern Shore by the readers of What's Up? this year, is owned by Tim Quinn and John Dodson, who decided not to purchase the space they were leasing for the restaurant. Luckily for our readers, the cream of crab soup will continue to be sold hot, cold, or frozen out of Easton Antiques & Art Gallery. Replacing Legal Spirits will be a steakhouse/tavern opened by Stephen Mangasarian and Tom Haschen. It will be modeled after a 1930s New York-style steakhouse, serving bangers and mash, steaks, and shepherd's pie. The new restaurant does not yet have a name, but they hope to open in late February or early March.

Annapolis Happy Hour: The Rockfish

It's the happiest hour of the day! Check back every Thursday to find out what great happy hour specials local restaurants are offering. Well, it's 9 a.m., and I'm already thinking about Happy Hour. What to do? Gather your coworkers and head to Eastport to check out happy hour at The Rockfish Restaurant, located at 400 Sixth Street. Not only do they have lots of live music, they have both great happy hour special and daily specials.

Thanksgiving Summary

Now that the leftovers are gone (hopefully!) and the Christmas decorations have been brought of our boxes, I finally have a chance to sit down and talk about my Thanksgiving. My actual Thanksgiving was spent at my future in-laws house in Delaware. They have their own traditions in terms of what food they serve on the Thanksgiving table, and they include macaroni and cheese, corn, and broccoli. Hey, I'm not going to judge -- my mother makes a (wonderful) green Jell-o salad with walnuts, apples, and celery in it every year, which I'm sure other people think is strange.

Annapolis Happy Hour: Gordon Biersch

It's the happiest hour of the day! Check back every Thursday to find out what great happy hour specials local restaurants are offering. First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving! Hopefully you're all feasting away with family and friends. However, if you're in the need of a cocktail (perhaps because those family and friends are driving you crazy) or a good mug of beer, check out Gordon Biersch's happy hour sometime soon.

Food Network cancels 'Ace of Cakes'

Baltimore's Charm City Cakes will no longer have a starring role on Food Network. It was confirmed Sunday that Ace of Cakes, which follows baker Duff Goldman and his staff of massively talented cake decorators, has wrapped production on its final season. Read more on ABC.com. I always preferred Duff to the guys over on Cake Boss, but I can't help but wonder if the competing series had anything to do with the show's downfall.

Jazz Up Your Thanksgiving

There’s something to be said for keeping tradition alive around Thanksgiving. Year after year, we break out the family candlesticks for the dinner table, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade until Santa appears, and gather with our closest friends and family to give thanks for the blessings we’ve had during the year.

New alternative to nail polish lasts Three Weeks!

Okay, here is the photo to prove it. My nails have lasted three weeks and two days before chipping. As you can see they have grown, where there is no polish at the base, but they are natural nails. This product, shellac really works, at least for my nails. I think it is a great product for a busy woman. To recap, “shellac” is a brand name for a nail product that is half nail polish and half gel. Applied, in several coats like nail polish, it is cured by UV light. The result is flexible nails that are completely dry when you leave the salon. Read the previously posted article to learn more… Durable Color For Nails - New alternative to traditional polish

Annapolis Happy Hour: Yellowfin

It's the happiest hour of the day! Check back every Thursday to find out what great happy hour specials local restaurants are offering. In terms of longevity, Yellowfin in Edgewater certainly blows other happy hours out of the water. Rather than the standard 4-7 p.m. evening happy hours, Yellowfin goes all day long from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and includes half-priced appetizers in the lounge area. Check out the appetizer menu here. For the record, Yellowfin tied with Stan & Joe's for the Best Happy Hour in What's Up?'s 2010 awards. In addition to the half-priced appetizers, the restaurant also offers half-priced bottles of wine during lunch and dinner on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.

50 percent off at Hell Point Seafood

There's a great Groupon deal for Annapolitans today: Pay $20 for $40 worth of food at Hell Point Seafood.  The link is only good until midnight tomorrow, so make your decision quickly. Have you never used Groupon before? I recently became a Groupon convert when the site offered $25 tickets to the Penn State vs. Indiana game at FedEx Field this weekend. It's super easy — just buy the Groupon and present it to the wait staff before you order. Just like that, your bill is $20 less. While there isn't an Annapolis-dedicated Groupon, I subscribe to both the DC and the Baltimore feeds and frequently get deals in Annapolis. So it's definitely worth getting the e-mails each day!

Restaurant Review: The Wild Orchid

Though it’s in a new location, Karen and Jim Wilder’s Wild Orchid continues to offer delicious food in a classy atmosphere.
