What's the Buzz? Two Tree Restaurant

In this month’s installment of Buzz we start by taking a trip to the other side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to catch up with Eastern Shore goings-on. In Millington, a lovely little town located just 35 miles north of the Bay Bridge (off Route 301); there has been a chef change at Two Tree Restaurant (TwoTreeRestaurant.com). Husband-wife team Mike and Eileen Jacobson have taken over the kitchen at this ambitious Kent County destination-dining spot. Prior to settling down in Millington, the couple worked as traveling chefs with Cirque de Soleil, then worked at renowned Southern favorite Magnolia’s in Charleston, S.C. They've brought a bit of Southern flair along with them to the Shore, evident in new-to-the-menu eye openers like the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage and tasso gravy (pictured). Two Tree focuses on using fresh, local ingredients grown with sustainable practices and offers blue plate specials all day for $9. If you make the trek to Millington (check out Unicorn Lake!) be sure to pop in for a delicious bite to eat.
Kent Island residents can now enjoy what Anne Arundel County residents have since 1981—Adam’s Ribs! Owner Bill Bagdasian opened the doors to the newest restaurant in the “Place for Ribs” family in April. The restaurant seats 124 in the dining room, another 36 on the covered patio outside, and offers full-bar service. So if you have a hankering for Adam’s signature barbeque ribs and chicken while on the Shore, you don’t have to drive far for satisfaction. Learn all about Adam’s at AdamsRibs.com.
Another Anne Arundel County restaurateur is expanding business on the Shore. Jerry Hardesty, owner of Annapolis staples O’Brien’s, OB’s Prime, and Middleton Tavern, purchased Side Street Seafood Restaurant and the adjoining Captain Bud’s Tiki Bar on 10th Street in Crisfield, saving the establishments from foreclosure. “Our plan is to continue service in a fashion conducive to the Crisfield experience,” says Hardesty, “with steamed crabs, seafood, and a full range of lunch and dinner items, all moderately priced, with nightly entertainment at the Tiki Bar. We’ll have the full capacity for large crab feasts, bull roasts, catering, and even business meetings.” Hardesty is working with a local tour company to possibly package tours of Tangier Sound, as well as with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to offer customers use of the DNR’s 550-slip marina nearby. The grand re-opening took place this past May.
Back home in Annapolis, we learned of a fun and engaging activity introduced by Carrol’s Creek Waterfront Restaurant in Eastport, Annapolis. The restaurant hosts Wii Bowling Tournaments each Sunday, in which teams of 2–4 people can show off their bowling skills (on the Nintendo Wii mind you) and compete for gift certificates to the restaurant. Diners/Players are invited to arrive early to practice and take advantage of restaurant specials. For more information call 410-263-8102 or CarrolsCreek.com.
Next month, we will visit several new additions to the Annapolis dining scene. Stay tuned!
