Tubman Merchant Training Workshop

Open to ALL! Find out who Harriet Tubman was... What is the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center?. What is the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway? What is significant about Dorchester County? Once the new Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center opens to the public on March 11, it is expected to draw visitors from ALL OVER! While they are here, these visitors will be looking for lodging, dining, shopping, and other things to do in the area. Local businesses can learn how to become Harriet Tubman Byway Certified Host Business and engage these visitors during a free workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The workshop runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chesapeake College's Cambridge Center at 418 Race Street in Cambridge. The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway is a 125-mile, self-guided driving tour that highlights 36 sites in Dorchester and Caroline Counties. One of the sites is the new Tubman Visitor Center. The Feb. 21 workshop is a joint effort of Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, Dorchester County Tourism, Dorchester County Economic Development, Maryland Park Service, the National Park Service, and Maryland Office of Tourism.
