USNA Commissioning Week

Let graduation commence at the USNA Commissioning Week filled with tons of family friendly activities in downtown Annapolis Monday, May 22nd through Friday, May 26th. The week starts off with the USMC Battle Color Detachment Silent Drill Performance on Worden Field Monday, May 22nd, 11 a.m. The U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon from the Marine Corps Barracks at 8th & I, Washington, D.C., will perform with a Drum and Bugle Corps and Color Guard. Following at 1:30 p.m. will be the Herndon Monument Climb where freshman will climb the 21-foot obelisk in order to retrieve a white plebe “dixie cup” hat on top of the monument and replace it with an upperclassman’s hat. On Wednesday, May 24th, 2 p.m. the U.S. Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron’s Blue Angels will perform a variety of high-speed, aerobatic precision-maneuvers over the Severn River. The Color Parade will take place on Thursday, May 25th, 11 a.m. on Worden Field. Rounding out the week will be the 2017 USNA graduation.
