In celebration of London Town's heritage as a prominent seaport in colonial Maryland, Historic London Town and Gardens is hosting the annual living history event, Shore Party Weekend Saturday, June 17th and Sunday, June 18th, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Costumed interpreters trained in marlinspike seamanship, navigation, and all aspects of maritime culture will live onsite through the weekend.
You are invited to step into the shoes of “Jack Tar” and experience life among London Town’s sailors. Recreated 18th century vessels will tie up along the pier over the South River. Watch from the original c.1760 William Brown House and tavern as they sail across the waters just as they did two centuries ago.
Stop by the Carpenter Shop and buy some handmade furniture by Seneca Creek Joinery. Throughout the weekend, sailors will practice the art of seamanship. Join them to learn knots, make rope, and try your hand at other sailor crafts.
Each day these mariners will take to the river. When ashore, volunteer sailors will be cooking their meals over hearth fires in our Lord Mayor’s Tenement.Visit Event Website for More Info
