Description:

It is with equal regret and excitement that we inform you of our decision not to perform Carmen this Summer. While staging a wordless remount of Carmen would have been wonderful, Synetic’s Founding Artistic Director Paata Tsikurishvili has been inspired to produce an original work for you, instead. We are pleased to announce the new fifth show in our 2016/17 Season will be The Mark of Cain.

A newly devised work, Synetic Theater’s The Mark of Cain is a neo-surrealist distillation of human history, seen through the eyes of Cain, the world’s first criminal. As he makes his bloody ‘mark’ in every corner of the world, we see that the conflict between progress and morality are ever present–a function of humanity’s need to create civilization through uncivilized means and attempt to touch the face of God.

We will ask the question; was Cain a criminal? It will be up to you to decide if his actions were justified.

This show is recommended for ages 13+ for mature content.

**PLEASE NOTE** We will be using colored powder to mark the murderers highlighted in this production. The first couple rows of the theater will technically be a “splash (powder) zone,” so come prepared!

Runs July 19 >> August 13 Wednesday-Saturday 8pm, Sunday 2pm
