Young Chefs Cooking Camp

Chef Alba Johnson Alba is a cooking instructor and personal chef specializing in southern Italian and Mediterranean cuisine in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Her recipes are rustic, simple and vibrant in taste. (Ages: 9-12) Monday July 9th-Friday July 13th 2018 Drop off at 10:30am, pick up at 2:30pm. Our cooking camp is a fun way for kids to spend time working in peer groups. Chef Alba teaches kids valuable skills that they can carry with them through life. On Monday we start with the foundation of kitchen and knife safety, proper food handling, and hygiene, measuring, and making healthful snacks. Children practice basic math when they measure ingredients, reading comprehension as they follow a recipe, team building as they work in groups, and they also build a strong foundation for healthful cooking and eating. All of these skills are mixed in with delicious recipes and fun. We eat what we cook. Recipes supplied. Registration. (registration fees may apply) Note: Students are required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Long hair must be tied back.
