Kundalini Yoga Workshop

with Catherine Boyle

Foundations Island Yoga is hosting a Kundalini Yoga Workshop to introduce beginners to the Yoga of Awareness. This is a dynamic, powerful tool designed to give you an experience of your soul. In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul. Kundalini Yoga is a science which works on the seven chakras, the arcline and the aura (the Eighth Chakra). In kundalini yoga we move through a series of specific exercises and meditations intended to bring about a certain effect on the body, mind, and spirit. So while you will move from exercise to exercise and end with savasana (relaxation), overall it will be a different experience from a traditional yoga class. Chanting mantra(s) may be done throughout the class. This is because in addition to pranayama (breathing exercises), one of the most effective ways to expand consciousness is through vibrating the sound current. While chanting mantras may seem uncomfortable at first, it is a beautifully healing and meditative experience. Still having a bit of doubt? Well, rest easy. You are not required to join in until you are ready to do so.
