Remembering our fallen Heroes and raising money for wounded veterans

On June 16th, 185 for Heroes, with Anne Arundel Striders, will be sponsoring a Half-Marathon and 10k race to remember the three Sailors from Maryland that passed away during the June 2017 collision of the USS FITZGERALD and the August 2017 collision of the USS JOHN S. MCCAIN: Personnel Specialist First Class Xavier Martin, Information Systems Technician Second Class Timothy Thomas Eckels Jr., and Electronics Technician Second Class Kevin Sayer Bushell.

A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to a non-profit organization of the families of the fallen Sailors’ choosing. The rest of the race proceeds will go to the non-profit organization, 185 For Heroes, to support wounded, injured, and ill veterans and their caretakers.

501(c)(3) non-profit, 185 for Heroes, is a 100% volunteer run organization that helps wounded veterans each year by providing means to build confidence through fitness and participation in athletic events. Support ranges from covering entry fees for races and other athletic events, to other needs such as shoes, hiking poles, handicap accessibility assistance and more. To register, please visit:
