So, I know that the big day this weekend is Sunday. But, did you know that there are other days to fill? I know; I was pretty surprised too.

On Friday, the Annapolis Wind Symphony will kick off the new First Fridays at First Presbyterian concert series in a program featuring works by Vaghan Williams, Respighi, and more. The event begins at 8 p.m., and ends around 9:30 p.m.

As Maryland's only philanthropic professional arts organization, it's fitting that the AWS' performance will benefit the a local charity. All $20 of the price of admission will go directly toward the Winter Relief Homeless Shelter. To date, the AWS has raised over $14,000 for non-profits in Anne Arundel County.

To find out more, visit First Presbyterian's website, or that of the symphony.

If, however, you're going to find yourself on the Shore this weekend, then you may want to make a trip to St. Michaels.

At the town's branch of the Talbot County Free Library, Mr. James Lane will present a discussion entitled "Marsh, Maroons and Mariners: Identity and Community on Delmarva," which will revolve around traditional maritime culture, community identity, and sustainability.

A trained ethnographer and community scholar, Lane has worked with professional folklorists, oral historians, writers, and local communities throughout the mid-Atlantic. His presentation will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Visit Tcfl.org or call 410-745-5877 to find out more.

Looking to get out a little bit before you hunker down for the big game? Head to D.C.

At Riot Act Comedy Theater, DC Shorts is going to showcase their top laugh-out-loud comedies and an eclectic combination of Riot Act comedians.

Each two-hour showcase features 6-8 films and three live stand-up routines. So, whether you're interested in a brief visit or you're in for something more, you'll have the chance to get to one of five different showtimes to experience 38 films and 10 comics.

A hilarious combination, the weekend-long event is sure to have something for everyone.
