Limelight: Movers & ShakersHeld at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium Banquet Facility in Annapolis on March 25, Chefs by the Bay featured a gourmet-tasting gala with some of the regions finest chefs, live music, and a silent and live auction. The proceeds benefited the community service programs of the Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. During an elegant evening of dining and dancing, more than 1000 people enjoyed Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation's spring gala There's No Place Like AAMC on March 31 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. This year's event raised nearly $600,000—a record amount—to support technological needs, including digital mammography, a 64-channel CT scan and a 4D ultrasound. The night's festivities included silent and live auctions, gourmet cuisine, and dancing. The Board of Directors of Maryland Therapeutic Riding recently hosted a fundraising wine-tasting called “Savor the Grape” at the Blue Heron Center in Quiet Waters Park on March 30. This first-time event for MTR included a silent auction, tasting of wines provided by Wine Cellars of Annapolis and a personal testimonial by Joyce Miller, an MTR Board Member and active participant in the therapeutic riding services. This year's YWCA Island Magic Gala drew more than 200 friends and supporters to the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club on February 23. Guests enjoyed silent and live auctions, music and dancing, and a Caribbean-themed dinner. Almost $135,000 was raised during the evening with proceeds going to support the YWCA's many programs and services. |
