Giving Back: Upcoming Local Charity & Events Chester River Health Foundation's Annual Golf Tournament Friday, June 1 Whether you choose to participate in this tournament as a golfer, a sponsor, or both, this annual event provides an opportunity to spend an enjoyable day on the links—and for a good cause! All proceeds benefit the health care services provided by Chester River Health System. The golf registration fee ($200 per person or $800 per foursome) includes greens fees, covered cart, lunch, snacks and beverages, entry into on-course competitions, and the awards reception. Annual Strawberry Festival For more than 25 years, Trappe United Methodist Church has hosted this annual event, with proceeds going to scholarships to help send kids to Camp Pecometh and funding for other youth programs. The festival features games and activities for kids (and their parents), hay rides, pit beef platters, a huge yard sale, plant and bake sales, and, of course, strawberry dishes of all kinds. Humane Society of Kent County 's 10 th Annual Mutt Strut and Pet Fair Saturday, June 2 A walk in the park! This annual event offers fun for the whole family including pet photos, pet paintings, pet contests (beauty, tricks, etc.), a silent auction, and numerous booths and vendors. For the children, there is face painting and a Moonbounce. Plenty of food and beverages will be available. All proceeds go to the care of animals at the Humane Society of Kent County. Clarks Landing Boat Sales 3rd Annual Charity Golf Outing Friday, June 8 Join coaches, players, and cheerleaders from the Baltimore Ravens in a fun day on the links to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The Captain's Choice Outing includes golf on the River and Lakes courses, prizes (for men and ladies), a continental breakfast, beverages, and an awards dinner with an open bar. All proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Funds raised from the relay will go toward finding a cure for cancer. Call Elizabeth Fluharty at the number above for more information. 16 th Annual Maryland Swim for Life Saturday, June 16 The District of Columbia Aquatics Club (DCAC) sponsors this community fundraiser that benefits small organizations that assist families and individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, and the Chester River Association, which advocates health for the Chester River .
