Groce has stepped up for the Saints’ boy’s basketball team coached by Brian Konik this season. The defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference Champions lost their leading scorer, Josh Morgan-Green, to a season ending wrist injury and Groce has helped pick up the slack. “It was pretty disappointing to lose Josh, so we had to find ways to work without him,” said Groce, a junior guard. “I was more of an assist man last year, but now I have to score more.” Groce has done that frequently averaging double digits in scoring as the Saints gear up for another run at the B Conference title. And they are doing it in a really tough league this season. “It’s really tough and we have only two seniors,” said Groce. “We hope to get the top seed and get a [first round] bye because the playoffs are going to be really competitive this year with teams like Mount Carmel.” Groce, who has a 2.75 grade-point-average, has drawn interest from such schools as Towson, James Madison, Loyola, Lehigh, and Bucknell. He plans to pursue business management and then become a sports agent. His parents, Jeffrey and Rosalyn Groce are both lawyers.
