Softball season never really ends for Jordan Wright. In fact, her continual involvement with softball has forced her travel team’s most luxurious tournament destinations to double as her family’s yearly vacation spots. Terri Wright, Jordan’s mother as well as the softball coach and athletic director at North Dorchester High School, says the family’s last five vacations have proved invaluable for the high school team’s outlook. “[Jordan’s] played ball and been involved more than anyone,” she says. “Her experience level is above and beyond the rest of the team.”
As the ace of the pitching staff, Jordan’s experience is well placed. “Without pitching, you simply can’t compete,” says her coach/mother. For her senior season, Jordan hopes to increase the number of strikeouts she produces. “I need to be the best pitcher I can be for my team,” she says. “As a pitcher, I need to be a leader as well.”
Jordan is a four-year member of the honor roll, a member of the National Honor Society, and plays in the school’s jazz band. She’s been named Offensive and Defensive MVP of the softball team, and was the Offensive MVP for the soccer team last fall.
After graduation, Jordan plans to play softball for two years at Chesapeake College before transferring to a four-year university, and she intends to major in chemistry.
