Caroline Cochran

St. Mary’s High School
Field Hockey & Lacrosse
Cochran was an All-Metro midfielder as a junior scoring 54 goals and dishing out 18 assists for the 13th ranked Saints of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference. She was also named a first team All-American, is a Tewaaraton Award-winner, and was featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd. She has carried over her junior year success into her senior year as the Saints, of coach Sue Chittim, make a run at the A Conference title. “Hopefully we can go all the way,” said Cochran, who also starred on the Saints’ field hockey team. “We believe that we can. We’ve been working hard as a team and our two main points are positivism and teamwork. Hopefully that will carry us really far.” Headed to the University of Virginia on a lacrosse scholarship, Cochran, who is also outstanding defensively as her 63 ground balls and causing 26 turnovers attest, started her fourth varsity season with career totals of 172 goals, 52 assists, and 152 ground balls. The Saints won the conference title in her freshman season and were semifinalists the last two seasons. Cochran is also a very good student with a 3.9 grade-point-average, and is a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She wants to get into nursing in college. “I know it’s tough, but I’ve had ACL surgery and a bunch of different injuries, so, I’ve been in physical therapy so many times and medicine really started to interest me,” said Cochran, who is the daughter of Tim and Cheri Cochran. “I think it would be a chance to help people. I like science and am in anatomy physiology and I love that.”
