Cory Jensen

Jensen has been a solid performer for coach Jim McCandless for several years just as his older brother, Andrew was. Andrew was an All-County outfielder who played at Salisbury University. “Coach McCandless has taught me a lot of things about the game, just as he taught my brother,” said Jensen, who is starting for a third varsity season as a middle infielder, primarily shortstop for the Falcons. Jensen has committed to Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida, and expects to play second base, a position he played for the Maryland Monarchs last summer. He is optimistic about the Falcons this season. “We’re going to have a great hitting team this year and will be pretty good defensively,” said Jensen, who bats at the top of the order and has good hands and a good arm defensively. “I see Northeast being really tough, North County always gives us a run and Broadneck is our rival and we bring our ‘A’ game when we play them.” Jensen says his skills have improved and credits his coach and the seniors of the past, like his older brother who guided the younger players. As for his future, Jensen, who has a 3.2 grade-point-average, 1,540 SAT score and is ranked 221 in his senior class of 460, wants to study criminal justice. It’s a field his father, Paul, has been in with the Federal government and his brother, Andrew, has gotten into. “My father did it and my brother did and it branches off into a lot of possible employment opportunities,” said Jensen. “Andrew has gone into the Maryland State Troopers. He and I both wanted to follow in our father’s footsteps. I think I want to look into maybe becoming a lawyer, but I'm still young to make a decision.” Jensen’s parents are Paul and Tracey.
