A standout in his first two seasons as the Bruins’ starting quarterback in football, the junior is starting to make his mark in lacrosse as an attack. Veteran Broadneck lacrosse coach, Clay White, says that Colleran, who led the team in assists as a sophomore, “is one of the most unselfish players I have ever coached, has good vision and will quarterback our offense.” Colleran along with UMBC-bound Caleb Holt are combo attack/midfielders who are expected to lead the Bruins offense. “I’m just trying to get my name out there with colleges,” said Colleran, whose father, Kelly, was an outstanding quarterback at rival Severna Park back in the ’80s. “I know D-1 in football would be really hard [to get an opportunity] and also lacrosse and I love both sports. I’ll see whatever offers I get and I would be excited to get a D-1 AA like my dad did. He went to JMU [James Madison] for football and I have a sister attending JMU right now.” Colleran is looking forward to a good season in lacrosse this spring and said the team’s resilience and experience should carry them a long way in a county league and 4A-3A playoffs that have been dominated by defending state champion Severna Park in recent years. “It’s going to be a really good league and of course, Severna Park is our top rival,” said the 6’3”, 180-pound Colleran. “My dad supports me all the way at Broadneck (even against Dad’s alma mater) and he really doesn't have anything against Severna Park or for them. We’re big rivals and he supports his son.” Colleran has a 3.2 grade-point-average and has been working hard at getting even better academically. His college major might be business when he settles on a school, although he enjoys teaching and coaching younger kids in his neighborhood. He said he hopes “to follow in my dad’s footsteps and play college football and be successful at whatever job [Dad is an accountant],” he chooses. His mom is Tracy Colleran.
