Senior, Queen Annes County High School
Cheerleading, Tennis
Dodd has been a member of the Lions’ varsity cheerleading squad since her freshman year. Now a captain, this senior flyer has a voice in planning the squad’s routines, as well as its lineups. Dodd says the squad has a core group of seniors that work well together, and the entire team respects the captains, which bodes well for their goal of winning the Bayside Conference. “We have a real family atmosphere,” she says. “We’re all like sisters and we really look out for each other.” When Dodd came to high school, she needed to choose between playing soccer and cheerleading. She settled on cheerleading because she says it combines everything she loves: dancing, tumbling, and school spirit. Recognized as an All American by the Universal Cheerleading Association since her freshman year, Dodd is also a member of the Future Farmers of America, the National Honor Society, Student Government Association, 4-H, the Honor Roll, and has been named a Distinguished Scholar. She’s affiliated with the Republican Central Committee, but can’t become a full member until she’s old enough to vote. Dodd says she’s known since she was 11 that she wanted to become a lawyer. “Back then, I wanted to be a children’s advocacy lawyer,” she says. “Now I think I’d rather get into politics.” Come spring, Dodd hopes to have an undefeated season on the tennis court. Dodd expects to attend Washington College in the fall, though she’s also looked at James Madison University and Towson University.
