Kenny Miller

Typically more comfortable leading by example, Miller is now learning to lead vocally, after being named captain for his senior season. The team’s starting tailback and safety and the Most Valuable Player of last year’s team, the 6’0”, 180-pound two-way player says it’s much easier to be vocal with his teammates on game days. “When I’m in a game hitting people and getting hit, it’s easy to be pumped up and yelling, trying to get everyone else pumped up. During practices, though, it’s something I have to work on. I’m kind of a laidback guy,” he says. Head Coach James McCormick says Miller is doing just fine. “Kenny’s more likely to be a leader in action than words, but he needs to be vocal this year, and he knows that,” he says. A member of the National Honor Society, the Student Government Association, and an active member of his church’s youth group, Miller carries a 4.0 grade point average. During wrestling season last year, Miller qualified for the state tournament; he plans to return to the tournament this year and improve on his performance during his junior season. He also received the baseball team’s sportsmanship award during his junior season. Miller is tentatively planning to attend Brigham Young University next fall, where he is considering pursuing a career in sports medicine.
