McCaskill has high expectations for her EHS volleyball team this year. After gaining experience last season, she sees this year’s team as one poised to make noise in the Bayside Conference. “This year is our year to be on top, to have a better record than ever before, and to become champions, earning that banner on our gym’s wall,” she says. The team’s libero, a free roaming, back-row position largely responsible for ball control, McCaskill received the team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player award last year. Since beginning to play volleyball, McCaskill has worked to become a better athlete each year. “The sport has made me more driven for the personal, to achieve my goals and aspirations,” she says. McCaskill is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll, the Latin Club, and the school’s yearbook committee, and she has been named a Minds in Motion scholar each of the last three years. With a 3.76 grade point average, McCaskill plans to go to a four-year college next fall to pursue a degree in cardiovascular technology.
