On Thursday, February 26th, over 90 attendees enthusiastically enjoyed the first-ever cocktail party and celebration of the
What's Up? Top Dentists of Annapolis & Eastern Shore. Organized by What’s Up? Publishing Group and held at Morton’s Steakhouse in Annapolis, the event brought together the peer-reviewed winners of the bi-annual Top Dentist survey, published in the October issues of What’s Up? Annapolis and What’s Up? Eastern Shore. Attendees enjoyed light fare and cocktails, with proceeds benefitting Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation’s dental programs at Stanton Outreach Center.

Assistance League Chesapeake received a $1000 grant for its Emergency Kits program from the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. Bess Langbein, Executive Director of the Foundation, and several members of the grant making committee of the Foundation’s board presented the check and learned more about the program during a kit packing session in March. Since 2005, Assistance League has provided over 250 emergency kits to county residents.

Leadership Anne Arundel honored nine individuals who have made significant contributions to the community and improved life for residents of Anne Arundel County. Raynaldo Brown; Chet Lawrence III; Tara Potter; Karen Sank; Lisa Shore; Sharon Stewart; Susan Walker; and Chuck Walsh received Community Trustee Awards, and F. Carter Heim received the Lifetime Community Trustee Award at the Community Trustee Awards ceremony held March 17 the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum. Close to 170 individuals attended the event.
Ballet Theatre of Maryland celebrated their 30th Anniversary at their 2009 Dancer’s Gala held at Annapolis Marriott Waterfront on April 19th. Honorary Chair was Mr. Richard Crabtree, Auctioneer was J. Ernest Green, and gala chairperson was Gail Deutsch. Serving on her committee was Barbara Firebaugh, Brianne Flaherty, Mary Ann Kingsley, Ruby Person, and Tracy Wright.
