Street Talk: What's Your Favorite Book?

All of Annapolis has been curling up with a good book—The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald—for “The Big Read” and we’re also celebrating National Poetry Month this April. This led to reminiscing about our favorite novels and the classic books we all love to read and reread. Curious about what occupies our readers’ bookshelves, we asked this month’s question: “What is your favorite book?”

John Feldman, 23, of Annapolis, research assistant—“On The Road by Jack Kerouac because of the free spirit sense of searching for inspiration. That is the underlying theme.

Mary Clare Holder, 61, of the Annapolis area, realtor for Long & Foster—“I love mysteries. Especially authors like Stuart Woods and Dean Koontz.”

Adriana Bevis, 39, of Annapolis, Aerospace project manager—“These days it’s Baby Wise by Garry Ezzo because we have a new one-month-old. We are trying to adjust and get on a schedule and the book is helpful because this is our first baby.”

John Gorman, 53, of Eastport, retired—“A book I read on Pope John Paul because I’m Catholic and interested in history and the aspects of his life. I think he was a great man.”

Krista Gillikin, 23, of Annapolis, student—“I really like The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas actually. It just covered the spectrum of all the genres.”

Emily Lynham, 23, of Annapolis, recent college graduate—“I like Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Pride and Prejudice because it analyzes relationships and communication. Sherlock Holmes because I like mysteries and I also like good writing.”
