Forgotten Children Campaign-Forgotten Children Exhibit
Date:
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
Description:
is a dramatic exhibit launched by National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to draw public attention to the children in America's foster care system. Beginning Monday, May 19, 2008, 850 life-size displays of foster children will appear at the Washington Monument. For the remainder of the week, through Friday, May 23, 850 additional cutouts of children will appear each day until the total reaches 4,250 displays representing the 4,250 children who entered foster care during the workweek. Each child display will hold a placard with a message and a call to action. A variety of messages, obtained from a recent national focus group study of current foster youth, will be featured in the stand-up displays. Six versions of the child displays illustrate the diversity of children in foster care.
