Dawn of the Dogs
October 28 will see many dogs come out in costume to celebrate the 5th Annual Howl-O-Ween Barkin' Bash at Quiet Waters Park in Hillsmere. Dogs and their owners are encouraged to dress up during a day with dog activities, vending, canine rescue groups, raffles, music, and more. Proceeds will benefit the Quiet Waters Dog Park. Looney Tunesmith
SteveSongs, a children's and family balladeer of fun and fantastic songs, visits Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis on October 15. Everything Equine
The 48th Annual Washington International Horse Show returns to the Verizon Center in D.C. this October 24-29. The event brings together vendors; arts and crafts; exhibitions; and competitions, including barrel racing, dressage, sidesaddle, jumping, and the crowd favorite, terrier races. On October 14, bagpipes will sound, dancing will commence, and brute strength shall compete. The Anne Arundel Scottish Festival & Highland Games will be held at Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds in Crownsville. In addition to the eclectic mix of authentic food, games, demos, and music, this year's festival will host the Eastern United States Pipe Band Competition (more than 30 pipe bands!), as well as the East Coast Amateur Athletic Competition, bringing together the best athletes in caber tossing and several other heavy events.
